The Hoi An Center for Monuments Management and Preservation has completed a survey and announced a list of 80 ancient wells in Hoi An, the ancient town bathed in the glistening lights of colored lanterns and surrounded by ancient heritages in the central province of Quang Nam. The authorities then initiated plans to preserve the relics that are hundreds of years old and a part of the spiritual life of Hoi An residents.

Like many festivals in Hoi An, the Long Chu Festival is steeped as much in cultural belief as it in religion. Long Chu festival is celebrated on the 15th of the seventh and eighth lunar month, when the new season is coming and the old one is leaving, and the entire climat is uncertain. It is held in the summer months, when plagues and other types of epidemics are most likely to break out in the fishing villages. As a result, religious ceremonies are carried out to fight the diseases.

No one knows exactly when "Bai Choi" appeared. It is said this game was played during every Spring Festival in Thua Thien Hue Province around 400 years ago. Then "Bai Choi" lost its popularity and was almost forgotten, until the festival was revived after the former Feudal capital Hue and the historic town Hoi An in Quang Nam Province were recognized as world cultural heritage sites. Now, thanks to Hoi An authorities, who decided to preserve and introduce Bai Choi to visitors, the game is played for all to see and admire.

“Banh xeo” is Vietnamese style crepe with whole shrimp, thinly sliced pork and bean sprouts. “Banh xeo” is a popular street snack in Vietnam, especially in the Central and the South of Viet Nam. The name means "sound crepe," the “ xeo” being an onomatopoeic word for the sound of the cooking process when it hits the hot skillet.

It is mixed with shrimp, pork and vegetables, and topped with grilled rice paper and spices. Similar to rice noodle and chicken or pork soup (Hu tieu), My Quang is a variety of Pho (rice noodle soup), because the noodles are made f-rom rice and covered with soup as serving.

The Thu Bon River in Hoi An plays an important role in the geography, culture as well as the history of Hoi An. The town which was better known as Fai Fo in the days of antiquity, is situated on the banks of this river. Located at a distance of 30 km away form Vietnam’s 4th largest city, Danang, this small town is positioned in the estuary of the Thu Bon River in Hoi An. Moreover, the Thu Bon River in Hoi An is not just the main culminating point for most festivals and events that are held at Hoi An but also the chief source of livelihood for many residents of the town.
