The opening ceremony of Vietnam – Japan Cultural Space and the receiving ceremony of Goshuinsen ship

Japan is a country which has diplomatic relation with Vietnam and also an important strategic partner of Vietnam in general and Hoi An city in particular. Through time, Hoi An is home to several vestiges of cultural exchange and economic cooperation with Japan from the past to the present.

Toward the welcome events of APEC Vietnam 2017 and the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Vietnam and Japan (21/9/1973 - 21/9/2018), Hoi An city will officially put "Vietnam - Japan Cultural Space" into operation from  November 11th, 2017. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at 19:00 on November 11th at Song Hoai Square.

Vietnam – Japan Cultural Space will spread though Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street and Japanese Bridge area. Here, various activities such as exhibition on historical material and archeological findings on trade and the relationship of Japanese town in Hoi An in the 17th century, Japanese tea ceremony; Vietnamese and Japanese bonsai exhibition; Vietnamese and Japanese  games for children; origami; traditional instrumental performance; paper lantern floating; calligraphy; folk music class, etc… will take place regularly.
In addition, Vietnam - Japan Cultural Space will be designed and decorated in Japanese style combined with special performances such as Hoi An, Memories of  Time", ancient rickshaw experience, Vietnamese and Japanese traditional costumes try on, cooking class, Japanese old traces tour, etc.
The highlight of the event is the receiving ceremony of Goshuinsen ship model and the reappearance of wedding procession of princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese trader Araki Sotaro with the presence of their descendant at 09:00 on November 10th  at Song Hoai Square.

The opening ceremony of "Vietnam-Japan Cultural Space" and the receiving ceremony is a significant diplomatic event of Hoi An city. In addition to further affirming and fostering the friendship between Vietnam, Hoi An and Japan; these activities also contribute to attract tourists, especially Japanese tourists to the world cultural heritage of  Hoi An ancient town.
