In March 2011 INTERKULTUR organized the first ever International Choir Competition in Vietnam's history in the city of Hoi An. After the big success of this first edition Hoi An authorities decided to regularly continue the cooperation by biannually hosting the event. After the 2nd Vietnam International Choir Competition is hosted in Huế city in December 2012, the event will now come back to Hoi An in 2013.

Hội An can be translated as "peaceful meeting place". And if people were walking around the city, it was totally clear that this was the ideal place of assembly for choirs for peaceful competitions f-rom both, local and abroad. Hội An's handcrafted and colorful lanterns are illuminating the city in the evening and colonial style buildings in Hoi An's old quarter offers the relaxed atmosphere for shopping and dining.

Hội An is located just a stone's throw f-rom Danang City with its international airport right at the central coast of Vietnam. In 1999, the old town was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO as a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port of the 15th to the 19th centuries, with buildings that display a unique blend of local and foreign influences. Quang Nam province has more than 120 km of coast line and even the competition venue is located directly at Hoi An's beach side.

In collaboration with the Vietnamese Central Government, the Provincial Government of Quang Nam and the City Government of Hoi An, choirs f-rom around the globe will again have the chance to discover the beauty of the country, combined with an international choral event. Come and be part of it!
