Rules of the contest “Creating ideas and making art lanterns, Hội An 2022”

I. CONTESTANTS
- For organizations, individuals, production and business establishments, design companies, communes, wards, schools, etc. inside and outside Hội An city.
- Not for members of the Organizing Committee, Jury Council, and Secretariat.
II. THEME “JOINING HANDS TO LIGHT UP HỘI AN”
- Integration and cultural exchange between Hội An and the world.
- Lunar New Year Festival 2022; The 92nd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (3/2/1930 - 2022).
- The symbols with auspicious meanings; icons and symbols of the Lunar New Year 2022.
- Traditional and contemporary themes bearing Hội An, Quảng Nam, and Vietnamese cultures; environment; and Cultural Heritage symbols.
III. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE WORKS
- Step 1: The authors send their own lantern blueprints to the Organizing Committee.
- Step 2: The Jury Council will select and notify the authors of the lantern blueprints that match the requirements.
- Step 3: The authors make their lanterns using the selected blueprints.
- Step 4: The Jury Council will choose the completed works and announce the final results.
* A completed work must ensure both the blueprint and the lantern which is made from the blueprint.
IV. HOW TO SUBMIT THE WORKS
1. Submitting the blueprints
Option 1: Submitting the blueprint (A3 paper size) with full captions on the size, details and colors of the work; the author’s information (name of author/unit, or name of the representative of an organization/company, phone number, address, ID number); and a presentation on topic, idea, etc. to Hội An Center for Culture, Sports, Radio and Television. Address: 1 Cao Hồng Lãnh st., Cẩm Phô ward, Hội An city (Sông Hoài square). Tel.: (0235).3861327/0989664555 (Mrs. Vy Thảo).
Option 2: Submitting via E-mail:
cuocthisangtacdenlonghoian@gmail.com, with the following items:
* A design file of the work (in .PSD, .CRD, .EPS format, etc.) or an image file of the work (in .JPG or .PNG format) with full captions on the size, details and colors of the work.
* The author’s information (name of author/unit, or name of the representative of an organization/company, phone number, address, ID number); and a presentation on topic, idea, etc.
2. Making the works for display
- The Organizing Committee will conduct the first selection to select the lantern blueprints that are qualified to be made into products.
- The authors use the selected blueprints to create their lanterns. The Organizing Committee will support from 3,000,000 to 8,000,000 VND to each blueprint that is qualified to be made into a product (Depending on the scale of the work evaluated by the Jury Council).  
- After completing the works for display, the authors submit to:
+ Hội An Center for Culture, Sports, Radio and Television. Address: 1 Cao Hồng Lãnh st., Cẩm Phô ward, Hội An city (Sông Hoài square).
+ Or make lanterns directly at the location arranged by the Organizing Committee in Hội An Ancient Town.
V. REGULATIONS FOR THE WORKS
- The Organizing Committee encourages individuals and units to participate and design works of creativity, originality, high aesthetic quality, showing the core values and characteristics of Hội An.
- The works are single lanterns or lantern clusters with a minimum size of 1 meter (height) x 1 meter (length) x 1 meter (width) and a maximum size of 8 meters (height) x 5 meters (length) x 5 meters (width). Lantern models which have large size and long-term display capacity are recommended.
- The works are new creations and not based on others’ ideas. The authors must be responsible for the copyright of their works.
- The works ensure the characteristics of Hội An lanterns; eco-friendly materials; the durability and safety during the display time of the contest.
- The Organizing Committee reserves the right to refuse to select the works that do not meet the requirements and artistic quality or reproduce in any way.
- During the contest, the authors may not use their works to enter any other contest.
- The Organizing Committee will not return the works and not be responsible if they are not received by the Organizing Committee or they are submitted beyond the deadline.
- Designs in the form of decorative clusters with many creative details, new and highly applicable lantern designs are recommended.
VI. REGULATIONS ON OWNERSHIP OF AWARD-WINNING WORKS
- After selecting, the Organizing Committee will have full ownership and use rights of the award-winning works indefinitely for display and installation in the ancient town.
- The Organizing Committee has the right to request the winning authors to amend and supplement the details in accordance with the requirements if their works are selected for display.
- If there is a dispute over the copyright of the work, the contestant must accept full responsibility before the law, and the prize will be withdrawn by the Organizing Committee (if the work wins the prize).
VII. TIME TO RECEIVE AND DISPLAY THE WORKS
- Launching and receiving the lantern blueprints: From the date of announcement to the end of November 30, 2021
- Selecting the lantern blueprints: December 2, 2021
- Announcement of the selected blueprints: December 4, 2021
- Receiving the works (made from the selected blueprints) for display: From December 5 to 23, 2021
- Opening ceremony “Hội An Lantern Festival 2022”: December 24, 2021
- The display time: From December 24, 2021 to February 15, 2022
- Selecting the works for display: December 28, 2021
- Announcement of award-winning works: January 31, 2022
- Closing and Awarding ceremony “Hội An Lantern Festival 2022”: The night of February 15, 2022 (Nguyên Tiêu Festival)
VIII. AWARDS
The Organizing Committee will select and award the following prizes based on the quantity and artistic quality of the works:
- 1 First prize: 20,000,000 VND and a certificate.
- 2 Second prizes: 14,000,000 VND and a certificate.
- 2 Third prizes: 10,000,000 VND and a certificate.
- 3 Consolation prizes: 6,000,000 VND and a certificate.
