Central city to host annual Việt Nam-Japan culture events

Art troupes, artists and representatives of cities in Japan will attend the annual Việt Nam-Japan Culture Exchange at Rồng Bridge park from July 25-28, offering cultural performances, cuisine, traditional art demonstrations, games and seminars on tourism and human resources development between Japan and Đà Nẵng.

The city said the annual event, which has been held since 2014, will officially open to the public at 5pm with 50 pavilions displaying information on tourism, education, traditional cuisine and shopping.

It said businesses and artists from Sakai, Yokohama, Kawasaki, Kisarazu, Mimasaka, Nagasaki and Kushiro will participate in the event.

Earlier, two seminars on tourism promotion and human resources training co-operation among Japanese and Vietnamese travel agencies and universities will be organised with the participation of 150 businesses and diplomats.

A Japanese tea-making exchange will take place among representatives from Đà Nẵng and Sakai city at the Japanese-invested Gran Vrio Đà Nẵng on July 26.

At the event, Đà Nẵng and Kisarazu will sign a memorandum of understanding on multi-field co-operation between the two cities.

The Kawasaki Frontales junior football team will play two friendly matches with local teams at Chi Lăng Stadium on July 27-28.

Artists from Japan and Việt Nam will also stage traditional joint-performances and demonstrations of Yosakoi, flashmob, cosplay and Ikebana flower art over three nights from July 26-28.

The annual event helps promote tourism and culture for local and Japanese artists and businesses. Japanese tourists were the second largest group visiting Đà Nẵng last year, with more than 400,000 visiting the city. Local airlines operate direct routes from Đà Nẵng to Osaka, Narita and Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Hội An in Quảng Nam Province will host the 17th Hội An-Japan Culture Exchange from August 8-11.

The opening ceremony will be held at An Hội Sculpture Park – on the banks of the Hoài River – at 8pm on August 9.

Performances of shakuhachi (a Japanese bamboo flute), cosplay, Yosakoi and Obon dances, origami paper folding, silk and brocade weaving and painting exhibitions will be held on both sides of the Hoài River.

A shopping area of fine arts products from Sakai, Hội An and crafts villages of Việt Nam will also be organised at the event.

Tourists can try traditional crafts of Japan and Hội An at the park day and night during the four-day cultural exchange.

Local artists will re-enact a 17th-century wedding parade held for Princess Ngọc Hoa and Japanese businessman Araki Sotaro in the old quarter and the Japanese Bridge from 4pm to 6.30pm on two days – August 10 and 11.

Visitors can take a tour to ancient houses based on Japanese architecture and buildings that have been preserved since the first Japanese traders docked at the busy trading port of Hội An 400 years ago.
