During the resistances for national salvation, Cẩm Thanh Nipa Palm Site, the revolutionary base and shelter for revolutionary forces of Hội An witnessed a lot of victories and golden historic events.
Nowadays, it is not only a relic of special historic value but also a unique ecologicail area of beautiful scenery and bio-diversity of a salted wet land system. The sub-sand dunes and sea weed carpets here are home to many valuable and rare marine species like crabs, shrimps, mollusks, etc. Cam Thanh Nipa Palm Site, therefore, creates habitats for bio-diversity and plays the important role of a natural filter that purifes the water environment for the area. In 2009, UNESCO recognized Cù Lao Chàm - Hội An, including the eco-system of Cam Thanh salted wet land area in the lower section of Thu Bon River as a Word Biosphere Reserve.
In the recent years, Cẩm Thanh Nipa Palm Site has been turning itself into a new, nice and interesting ecological tourist spot where nature and ecology lovers come for their leisure time. Once in here, you will surprisingly feel at ease to see local houses built from various parts of the nipa palms, learning the daily life of experiences of rowing the coracle, down setting and up lifting fishing nets, catching brackish water crabs, fish, clams and snails, enjoying folk songs and dances, joining environment protection activities... Life is worth living, isn't it?
