First INTERKULTUR choir festival in Vietnam

Big Opening Show on sea stage is being planned

For the first time Vietnam will be the venue of a big choir festival. F-rom March 16 – 20, 2011, the event “1st Vietnam International Choir Festival & Competition”takes place in Hoi An City in the province of Quang Nam. According to INTERKULTUR the project is an important step in the cultural development of Vietnam. The German organization holds the event in collaboration with the Vietnamese Central Government, the Provincial Government of Quang Nam and the City Government
of Hoi An.

Choirs of all music styles and cultures are welcome. Ensembles f-rom all over the world are invited to be part of the festival concerts and competitions. In a total of six categories choirs will compete to win the award. Furthermore, the event 1st Vietnam International choir Festival & Competition offers advisory circles, rehearsals with choir experts and encounter concerts.

The first highlight of the event will be the big Opening Show. Ensembles f-rom all parts of Asia and other regions around the globe will be welcomed on a 300 square meter sea stage. Being on stage actors and visitors will enjoy an unforgettable view of the city which is rich in tradition. Hoi An, once the largest port of Southeast Asia, is among the most important seaports of the Silk Road. The old town has mostly been preserved in its original state. Since 1999 it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also by name, Hoi An (in English it means “peaceful meeting place”), offers the “best conditions for the newcomer among our events”, says INTERKULTUR president Günter Titsch. According to Titsch a “peaceful get-together” in festivals and competitions is the basic requirement for a successful event.

A further attraction is the “Hoi An Full Moon” Night on March 18, 2011. All electric light gives way to candlelight. Many traditional lantern shows lend a scenic c-harm to the night of a full moon.

INTERKULTUR connects the choir community of the countries of the world for more than 20 years. Asia is an important region for this year’s INTERKULTUR events. F-rom May 31 to June 7 the “Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod” takes place in Kuala Lumpur. In July 2010 choirs of the world will travel to Shaoxing, China, to participate in the6th World Choir Games
