Cổ Cò River Festival – Hội An Tây 2026

The Cổ Cò River is a historic waterway that served as a vital trade route connecting Da Nang and Hoi An between the 16th and 18th centuries. The river is inextricably linked to the formation and development of the Hoi An trading port, having played a key role in fostering economic, cultural, and commercial exchanges between domestic regions and nations across the region and the world.

Due to historical upheavals and natural factors, the Cổ Cò River was silted up for a long period, disrupting its inherent connectivity. In recent years, the river has been gradually dredged and restored, helping to revitalize its value, aiming to become a distinctive ecological, cultural, and tourism landscape corridor that drives socio-economic development—particularly sustainable local tourism.

To honor the historical, cultural, and ecological values of the Co Co River while simultaneously promoting community-based and eco-tourism development and the distinctive cultural values of Hội An Tây Ward, the People's Committee of Hội An Tây Ward is organizing the "2026 Cổ Cò River - Hội An Tây" Festival. Details are as follows:

I. Date: August 1st and August 2nd, 2026

II. Topic: “Cổ Cò – Flow of Heritage”

III. Venue: Cổ Cò River, small park at the foot of An Bang Bridge, Hội An Tây Ward, Đà Nẵng City.

1. Opening Ceremony and Performance Program “Cổ Cò River – Past, Present and The Aspiration for Future”

2. Cruising along the Cổ Cò River with Live Music

3. Music performance involving residential groups, associations, youth unions, and community groups.

4. Local culinary space

5. Exhibition space featuring driftwood, bamboo root sculptures, Thanh Ha pottery, and riverine fishing gear.

6. Stalls featuring cuisine, OCOP products and local specialities

7. Net casting showcase on Cổ Cò River

3. Net casting showcase on Cổ Cò River: The traditional fishing practices of the riverine community are brought to life through a net casting demonstration. Market featuring local produce: The market recreates the rustic charm of the Quang region's countryside, bringing together signature local products like Tra Que vegetables and fresh seafood from An Bang—including fish, shrimp, and squid—alongside various seasonal specialties. It offers visitors an opportunity to browse, shop, and savor local flavors alongside simultaneously helping to promote agricultural produce, seafood, and indigenous cultural values to the public and tourists alike.
